It’s Friday, and I think you know what that means!
Title: The Bookshop on the Corner
Author: Jenny Colgan
Number of Pages: 384
Genre: Chick Lit (maybe romantic comedy, but I’m not sure)
Nina Redmond loves books. She’s even a librarian at her local library. She considers herself a “literary matchmaker.” When she gets let go from her job, she has no idea what to do with herself.
Nina decides she needs a change, so when she decides to move to a tiny Scottish town, and start a bookshop in a van, it’s the craziest thing she’s ever done.
I have to say, this wasn’t my favorite book I’ve ever read. It wasn’t horrible, but Nina didn’t display as much growth as I expected for a character. I kept waiting for the book to get wonderful, but I never really had the “closure” I expected.
I have been trying so hard to keep up with Flashback Friday, but I keep forgetting. Which is really funny, because this is one of my favorite weekly themes! This week’s book is one I read for a Goodreads book club a year or so ago, and while it wasn’t my favorite read, it wasn’t horrible. It was, unfortunately, pretty forgettable.
If you read this book at any point, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let me know in the comments below! I promise I’ll keep up better in the future! Until next time, bookworms!
