The Picky Bookworm

"Books are a uniquely portable magic." –Stephen King

You are in a cave. You reach a fork. You hear water coming from the path on the right. You hear eerie animal type noises coming from the path on the left. What path do you choose? for the water path, turn to page 7. For the other path, turn to page 9.

Does this sound familiar? It’s a type of choice in a favorite series of mine from my childhood. My sister and I would spend hours choosing one path, then the other. These books didn’t get old for a very long time, and when one did, new books were getting released constantly. I’m pretty sure even now, Amazon has choose your own adventure books available.

I plan on buying several of these books before my husband and I have kids, because I want them to have the adventures I did. They have choices like exploring a cave, or going to Space. Each has at least 2 choices for every option, giving these books amazing readability over and over.

If you could choose your own adventure, what would you choose?

The beauty is, you don’t have to decide on only one thing. You can read through one adventure, then start at the beginning, and read through another. These books are amazing that way!

Be warned: Don’t expect to read this book beginning to end. They aren‘t designed that way. I tried that once, and got so confused!

I found this video on YouTube about the Choose Your Own Adventure books, which might explain them in a bit more detail. I highly recommend giving these books a shot, because they really are super fun!

Have you read any of these books? Which one was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below! Share this post with your friends so they can join in the fun! Until next time, bookworms!
