I found this book over on Becky’s Book Blog, and it looked like so much fun! Keep reading, and you can see my answers!
1. Do you judge a book by its cover?
Completely. A cover can get me. I have bought books if the cover is simple, or complicated, or pretty. I don’t care, as long as I think it’s pretty. I actually grabbed “A Curse so Dark and Lonely” because the cover is amazing!
I will always read the synopsis, and if it’s still interesting, I will definitely read it. I can usually tell if I will enjoy a book by that point, so I won’t JUST get a book because of a pretty cover, but that’s usually why I pick one up.
2. Focusing just on a cover, what attracts you to pick it up?
Sometimes just the font of the title. I’m a sucker for a pretty font, so if the font is pretty, I’m more likely to grab it.
3. Do you read the synopsis first, or prefer to go in knowing nothing about the book?
I’ll read the synopsis, definitely. It doesn’t give much away about the book, so I can usually get away with reading it, and still enjoying the book.
4. Do you have any auto-buy authors?
P.C. & Kristin Cast are auto-buy for me. I have loved everything I’ve read by them so far. Anyone who has read this blog has probably heard me rave about them.
5. Are you more likely to pick up a book if it has specific elements/themes?
I love mythology based books (This eternity of Masks & Shadows is a good example), but I also love spy books and action books. I usually will only shy away from romantic comedies and historical fiction. I’ve read some of them, and just have never been able to get into them.
6. Do you ever read a book that has generally negative reviews just to form your own opinion on it?
I am a complete individual when it comes to my entire life, so I tend to ignore bad reviews, unless it comes from someone I know has the same tastes as me, and just hasn’t liked it. In general, though, I ignore most reviews, because I love to form my own opinions about things.
7. Do you ever buy a book just because another booktuber/blogger has talked about it a lot?
Absolutely! I follow so many book blogs and so many bookstagrammers. I grabbed A Court of Thorns and Roses, because I had heard so many rave reviews about it. Spoiler: those reviews are totally justified. The book is AH-MAY-ZING.
8. Is there anyone whose book recommendations you always trust?
Julia at One Book More is one I trust. I don’t usually read the romance books she recommends, because I’m not really a fan of the genre, but she loves the same kind of fantasy books I do, so if she recommends one, I usually add it to my TBR.
I don’t want to tag anyone specific, but please, if you think this tag sounds like fun, join in! This was a great tag, and I hope it helps you get to know me a little better! Until next time, bookworms!
