The Picky Bookworm

"Books are a uniquely portable magic." –Stephen King

Ya’ll, I have just not been feeling anything this week! I’ve barely gotten any reading done, and work has been trying to kick my butt. As a result, I haven’t gotten any new reviews posted for you, and I completely missed my Movie Monday post! I am so sorry you guys!

I found out this morning that Ian Holm, who played the wonderful Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, died. He had Parkinson’s, so I’m happy his pain is gone. We will always remember him and we will always miss him. In honor of Ian Holm, I’m going to talk about my favorite movie that he was in: The Fifth Element. He was Vitto Cornelius, the priest who helped Leeloo save the world. He was such a great character, and Ian played him wonderfully.

Evil is coming. Evil comes every 5,000 years to try to take over the universe, and only one thing can stop it: Good, in the form of the 4 elements (water, fire, earth and air) surrounding a fifth element. This fifth element is a supreme being, and is made perfect for a reason.

When Korben Dallas accidentally catches her in his taxi (really funny scene, check it out below), this sets off a chain of events that will lead Korben and company all over the universe. One of my favorite scenes is with Vitto, after Korben brings Leeloo to him after she passed out in the taxi. See below:

“Lady, I only speak two languages: English and Bad English!” Is one of my favorite quotes from this movie. If you’ve heard it other places, chances are it came from this movie.

What is your favorite scene from this movie? I think it could be classified as a classic, but I’m not sure. What do you think? Classic or not? Let me know in the comments below! Until next time, bookworms!
