Hey y’all! After what seems like a very long absence (It’s been a weird week; I’ll hopefully get a chance to write a post on it soon), I’m back with another Author Interview! S.D. & I connected on Twitter, and he has been so kind! He agreed to answer a few questions, to help you and I get to know him a little better! Check it out below!
How long have you been a writer?
Well, I’ve been writing since the age of around 12, crafting little stories here and there, so it’s always been with me and it’s always been my passion, but I decided to pursue it properly around three years ago and published my first novel this year. My second one will be out October 18th.
Were you good in English in school, or has writing been an acquired skill?
I had one amazing English teacher at college and she was the first person to tell me I should do this full time one day. She was the the one who inspired me to write, so, Karen, if you’re reading this, thank you!
Are you good at anything crafty?
ha! Oh gosh no! I can’t even sew up a hole in my jeans without making it a million times worse! I wish I was though, it’s such a skill, and to paint too, I admire those people so much.
What would you tell someone who wanted to be a writer?
Do it! Only you can tell your story. I believe in you and I think you have a story worth telling.
Would you ever set a book somewhere other than the UK, or do you stick with what you know?
I certainly would! In fact, the sequel to Harry Chambers is set in…(I’ll let you find out!) I’ve got plans to create all sorts of worlds on all sorts of countries too.
What would you tell someone like me, who reviews books? What would you want to see in a review?
To be yourself, people like you are fantastic souls and writers appreciate you all ever so much! We see the passion in your words and we see the desire to help us and we love you for it!
Who is your favorite author? Favorite book by that author?
Stephen King. He’s a huge inspiration to me! Favourite novel by him? Gosh, that’s a tough one! It’s either Misery or Joyland, but it can change often, sometimes multiple times a day!
What do you do when you’re not writing? Any hobbies?
The day job. it’s what pays the bills for now. Outside of work, I love to read and watch films and tv shows and going on walks/bike rides too. I love being active, I’m rarely found sitting down. My favourite hobby though, if it is indeed a hobby, is hanging out with friends and family. I’m very lucky to have truly great people around me.
Do you love to travel? Where have you traveled?
Yes!! I that’s another hobby of mine! The fiancé and I have plans to travel the world! One or the best places I’ve been to is Iceland! I shot a movie there at university, at the foot of a mountain as the aurora borealas was the on the sky above, the strongest it’s been in over 50 years. The Icelandic people are also some of the kindest I’ve ever met!
