Battling Boredom When You’re Stuck At Home

This is definitely a crazy time, huh? It feels like we’re in the middle of The Stand. If you start dreaming of an old black woman, please let me know, and I’ll see you in Hemingford Home!

I go stir crazy pretty easily, so I figured I’d make a list of ways I’ll be battling boredom in the coming weeks, so maybe give you some inspiration during this trying time.

Crocheting

I love to crochet. I have so many hobbies, but this is one that has lasted through the years. I make blankets, scrunchies, scarves and all sorts of other things. Follow me on Instagram here, and see pictures of the various things I’ll be making.

Reading

I have so many books on my physical shelves, as well as TONS in my kindle library. My blog will probably be overrun with recommendations and reviews. Which is fine with me. I have opinions on just about everything, and I’m not afraid to share them.

Social Media

I’m a very social person, so being unable to actually spend time with friends and family will be very hard on me. So spending time on social media will be a good way to keep in touch with those I love, and share what’s going on in my life.

Making Bookmarks

I came up with an idea a while back that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I call them “Honeycomb Bookmarks.” Check out my Instagram to see pictures of them. I will likely not have them in my Etsy shop, but if you see one you are interested in, please let me know and I will do my best to get one to you. Sometimes we just need something beautiful and a little frivolous to get us through the dark days.

Writing in my Blog

Of course! Can’t forget this wonderful item! I promised myself when we got put into semi-strict isolation yesterday (my husband still goes to work, but outside of that we try to stay in the house as much as possible unless we’re getting food) that I would write plenty in my blog. I’m hoping to actually make this a business at some point, so it’s important to me that I keep up with it.

Spending time with my husband

Yes, we spend time together all the time, but this will be a different situation. My husband is expecting to work from home starting later this week, so we will be around each other a LOT. Good thing we really get along, but the worry and stress will likely get to us at some point. It’s important that we make our time together as positive as we can, to deal with the stress of the world falling apart.

Watching Television

This is one of my favorites! I’ve been a TV fan for quite a while, so I have lots of shows I enjoy, and can recommend if you’re looking for something good. I prefer sci-fi and drama, but I have a few comedies on my list if you’re interested.

Playing Games

My husband and I have 2 decks of playing cards, and there’s TONS of games we can play together if we really start going crazy!

This is likely going to be a very trying time for all of us. It’s important that we stick together, be responsible and take care of ourselves as best we can! Don’t forget your self-care and do whatever you can to stay positive!

Do you have anything you would add to this list? Let me know in the comments! While you’re here, please subscribe! I email once a week with newest posts, and I never spam.

Until Next Time, Friends!
