Do You Believe in Life on Other Planets?

As you no doubt know, I have tons of books in my Kindle with Journal Prompts. What I decided to do a few months ago, is to pick a journal question from my books, and answer here on my blog. This week, I’ll be answering the question, “Do you believe in life on other planets?”

The short answer to this question is yes, I do. Now let me give you the long one.

I’m a Christian. I believe that God created the Earth, everything on it, and humans. I believe the Earth is far older than some Christians believe, but I don’t believe we all grew and evolved from one-celled organisms, out of the primordial ooze.

That said, I honestly think it would be irresponsible to believe that the Earth is the only planet in an infinite number of solar systems, in an infinite number of galaxies, capable of sustaining life. There could be a planet out there that has only bacteria. We could also discover at some point that Klingons actually DO exist! Nerds, rejoice!

The Logic behind Life on Other Planets

I read The Host by Stephanie Meyer a couple years ago, and one thing that Wanderer, the main character, says is that she visited a planet that contained only shrimp. Her words? “I tired of that world quickly.” I agree with Wanderer. I think I would tire of that quickly as well.

If you watch Star Wars or Star Trek, you know that the universe is far older than we believe. Vulcans and Jedi were traveling the Universe long before Humans learned to walk. So based on Science Fiction, key word here SCIENCE, don’t you think the Universe would have other species? Granted, I don’t believe all of them are sentient in the same way Humans are, but they would still have their own culture, their own habits, and their own way of seeing the world.

One thing that I’ve read, or heard somewhere, is that Satan tries to counterfeit everything that God has created. So, based on that statement alone, I think that the devil would have found another planet even remotely close to Earth, and tried to counterfeit creating humans. Do I think he succeeded? Not in the least, and I believe that’s where our “little green men” come from.
