Handmade Gift Ideas For Friends and Family

One of my favorite parts of gift giving, is making presents for others. As a creative person, one of the best ways to use my time is making things others can get use out of, and enjoy.

I’m going to share some gifts you can make for friends and family, and hopefully inspire your own creativity. This goes along with another post I’ll be writing later, “Gifts for Book Lovers,” in which I’ll be talking about various types of bookmarks.

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of them, I’ll get a small commission, and I’m so grateful!

Gift Idea #1: Resin Bookmarks

Resin is a super inexpensive product to purchase on Amazon (around $20 for a LOT of resin), and there are TONS of things you can make with it.

I’ve considered adding resin items to my shop, but I already have so many ideas, I really don’t need any more. I’ve added some images below as ideas for things you can add to the resin to make beautiful, unique items, as well as a video tutorial on how to use resin.

If you decide to make any of these items, please tag me on Instagram or Twitter, because I’d love to see your creations!

Gift Idea #2: Crochet Items

If you know how to crochet, the internet has tons of ideas for crochet items you can make. Chances are, you’ve already seen a bunch of them. Some ideas for crochet gifts are:

  • Scarves
  • Fingerless Gloves
  • Hats
  • Bookmarks
  • Sweaters
  • Scrunchies

Gift Idea #3: Wax Items

Everyone loves candles. I can’t think of a single person that has ever said, “Ew. I don’t want something that smells good. Don’t give me a candle.” Wax melts are another good idea to make, because they’re good for places that don’t allow open flames, but they still provide a nice smell.

Some ideas for wax items are:

  • Container Candles
  • Pillar Candles (can be a little more difficult to make, because you need a mold)
  • Soap
  • Wax Melts

Gift Idea #4: Buy something from Etsy

Ok, so this one isn’t really making it yourself, but I think I would be remiss not to mention the fact that if you don’t have the time or the inclination to make something yourself, you can always find something on Etsy.

One of my “Twitter Besties,” Katie, has an awesome shop, BugBear Crochet, that you should check out, and if I didn’t mention my own, GreenTigerGifts, then you would never know about the Book Inpsired Candles I make.

I absolutely love supporting creators on Etsy, and do so on a regular basis.

So what did you think of these ideas for gifts you can make friends or family? Do you have any ideas you’d like to add to the list? Feel free to comment below, and if your friends need some ideas and inspiration, I’d love for you to share this post with them!

While you’re here, please subscribe! You’ll get a weekly notification of new posts, and I never spam. Promise!

Until next time, Friends!
