What is Something You’ve Always Wanted to Learn?

Journal Thursday is going to be one of my favorite posts this year. Every Thursday, I look through all the journal prompt books I have and choose a question I want to answer.

This week I’m going to discuss something I’ve always wanted to learn, but since there’s so much information out there, it can all get a little overwhelming.

What is Yoga?

According to Wikipedia:

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Yoga is one of the six Āstika schools of Indian philosophical traditions. There is a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

I’ve always been interested in the physical practice of Yoga, but it’s hard to find a practice that I connect with. I didn’t even know there were different ones until today on Twitter, someone mentioned 2 kinds that I had never heard of before.

So, in response to this journal question, I’m going to research Yoga a little bit more, and see if I can find a practice that I connect with, and can stick with.

Some of the different practices in Yoga are:

  • Bikram
  • Sivananda
  • Hatha
  • Viniyoga
  • Ashtanga
  • Vinyasa
  • And many more….

I‘ll be definitely looking into each of these types of yoga, and seeing which one I want to learn to practice. You can look forward to other posts on what I’m learning, and how it makes me feel.

One reason I’m wanting to learn yoga, is that my husband and I are trying to have a child, and it’s been a rocky process. I’m hoping that learning yoga will help keep my stress levels low. I would like to find something that will help bring my body into balance so I can conceive. Do you have an idea of which one would be great for a newbie in my situation? Let me know below!

I’d also love to connect on Twitter, so you can find me here. Let me know what you think of my learning Yoga!

If you have any advice for a newbie, I’d love to hear that too!

While you’re here, please subscribe! You’ll get a weekly notification of new posts, and I never spam. Promise!

Until Next Time, Friends!

  1. Good luck! I took classes years ago and have done some home dvds (back in the day) as well. I really enjoyed it and didn’t feel pressured to “keep up” like I did in group aerobics or step classes. I think you’ll enjoy it as well.

    1. Thank you! I’m gonna hunt on YouTube and see what I can find. I also want to create a space in my bedroom for meditation and yoga. We’ll see how it goes.
