Meet The Author: LindaAnn LoSchiavo

Welcome, new friends and old! If you’re new here, I’m Pamela and I help indie and self-published authors market their books without losing their minds. One of my favorite things to do is introduce people to the people behind the books. This blog series, Meet the Author, is intended to do just that.

“Meet the Author” gives readers a glimpse into the person behind either their favorite book, or their next favorite book. I’m excited to introduce you to LindaAnn LoSchiavo this week, and I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions for the author, please leave them in the comments below, and I’ll get them to LindaAnn.

What is Your Name?

LindaAnn LoSchiavo

Where are you from? Do you find your location influences your writing?

NYC. Yes!

When did you start writing? Why?

I launched my first writing business at age 3 1/2 years old with my aunt, an illustrator. Numerous greeting cards were mailed to our large household & the rhymes were awful. Our cottage industry was rhymed, handmade greetings cards for family and friends. I wrote the verses and my aunt drew pictures. It was a big hit.

Do you have a published book? What’s it called?

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

  • Necromancy
  • Indoor gardening
  • Artwork

What comes naturally to you as a writer? What is your biggest struggle?

Biggest struggle: launching two new books at once while finishing a 3rd book that is under contract.

Is it your dream to write full-time? Why or Why Not?

Yes. And I do.

What genre do you write in? Why did you choose this genre?

Currently, my books are poetry collections. It’s where I’ve received most prizes or nominations. I have penned plays for the stage and fiction and drama criticism.

What kinds of books do you like to read? What is your favorite genre?

Poetry

Besides books, what inspires you on a daily basis?

My inner curiosity and ghosts

What are your favorite writing tools? Why?

I write long hand first always

Do you research a lot for your books? What’s the funniest thing you’ve researched recently?

Yes. My poetry often includes true crime. “Funny” as in “ironic” = a prominent and wealthy man was murdered in NYC (turn of the century) due to a case of mistaken identity; he was confused with a prominent white man who was in love with a Black woman (forbidden and unusual at this time in history). In researching this NYC crime for a poem, I discovered she posed as a white female & became the richest woman in NYC — a business genius.

What do you like most about writing?

When it’s done and it sings off the page

What is something about marketing your book that you struggle with? How can your fellow authors support you in this area?

Yes. With more reviews and social media posts that mention my books. Happy to reciprocate.

What is something you wish everyone knew about you?

All my life I have had a secret self that I never included in any of my writing. During the pandemic, the lockdown, I decided to reveal some of that “alt self.” It’s been interesting.

Where can people find you online?

Conclusion

Thanks so much for hanging out with LindaAnn and me! If you enjoy poetry, I hope you check out LindaAnn’s books, and if you have any additional questions for her, I hope you’ll leave them in the comments!
