Visme Review: Social Images, Presentations and More

A few months ago (last year, I think), a marketer from Visme approached me about writing a review of their product. I agreed, then basically forgot until I got a reminder a couple days ago. Whoops! They had given me a short-term premium account, so that I could check it out, right around the time I quit using anything like what they offered. DOUBLE WHOOPS.

**UPDATE: I have recently gone back and used some of their free options, so that I could familiarize myself with the program again, and have updated this post with recent opinions**

So, this review is based on what little time I actually used their service, and what I can remember from months ago. Ready? Here we go!

User Interface

Most of what I’m going to talk about is in comparison with that program we all know so well: Canva. Visme was WAY easier to use than Canva. When I first started using Visme, I couldn’t believe how easy it was to find the template I wanted to use. Visme also offers presentations (kind of like powerpoint) that I thought were pretty cool, even if I never used them. My Visme review will cover mostly blog and social images, since I used it mostly for blog featured images.

Visme Review
This is a featured image graphic I created using Visme. I had to get a little creative, because one of the shapes I wanted was available only in premium. As you can see, the image came out well.

Visme is more than Presentations

They offer way more than just presentations, however, so anyone who uses Canva can migrate over to Visme pretty easily. Here are a few things, other than presentations, that Visme offers:

Visme also has fewer “free” options than Canva, which disappointed me. Basically, if you want all the really cool stuff? You have to buy the premium version. That’s disappointing, but not unheard of. I do think if you’re looking for a super easy-to-use social designer, Visme is a great choice.

Templates

Visme offers various templates, just like Canva, and I actually liked them better. I rarely use the templates from Canva, because they’re geared more towards selling, and I like to create images to share blog posts, and create pinterest pins. The templates on Visme were more visually appealing, so I like to use them more often.

I did notice that when I needed to download an image, I was only able to download JPEG through the free option. My preference is PNG images, because they tend to be a little more high quality. PNG is only available in the premium membership. As you can see above, however, even the JPEG images are high quality, so even though I prefer PNG, I didn’t feel like I was losing quality.

Fonts

Unfortunately, this was the part of Visme that kind of fell apart for me. Their font selection was way fewer fonts than Canva, even at Canva’s free level. I could find the ones I wanted, but I love using tons of different fonts, and Visme just didn’t have the selection I would have preferred.

Pricing

Visme is pricier than Canva, for sure. I do believe, though, that the additional options (minus font choices) you get definitely make the additional price worth it. Would I get Visme? Absolutely, if I could afford it. At the moment, I’m unable to, even by paying through my business. Eventually, though, I’d love to be able to get their premium again.

All in all, would I recommend Visme? Yes, with a couple caveats. Their pricing is higher than Canva, but they’re way easier to use. They have fewer font choices, but more social templates available. I think Visme is the right choice for bigger businesses who can afford their prices but may be out of reach for small businesses like me.

Thank you for reading my Visme review! I have received a request to be an affiliate, so once I decide to set that up, I’ll be sure to provide the link! If I could afford it, I would have both Canva and Visme. They would provide an excellent balance, because some of them have options the other one does not.

Have you ever used Visme? Leave me a comment and let me know what you thought. Do you agree or disagree with my opinions?

Until Next Time, Friends!
